Join Design Dance in Chicago as we bring a transformative weekend to students ages 9-13! We'll be hosting three days of events learning how dance, yoga, and writing help us to accept ourselves and others.
Saturday, June 24th, 1pm-2pm - Family Yoga @ Chicago Athletic Club Webster Place (1455 W Webster Ave.)
Students ages 9-13+ their parents are invited to join us for an afternoon of family yoga as we stretch, balance and relax as a community. Sponsored by Clif Kid ZBar and Chicago Athletic Clubs.
CAC will be offering free weeks of membership, discounted swim lessons and other perks for attendees!
Sunday, June 25th, 9:00am-6:00pm - Acceptance Day @ Kwame Nkrumah Academy (314 W 108th St.)
Join us for a full day of workshops culminating in a community performance for students ages 9-13. Our day will begin with a discussion and exploration of qualities and intention setting, followed by yoga and meditation. Students will work with our Poetry instructor to create writing on the topic of Acceptance. After lunch, students will meet our Professional Dance Instructor who will teach choreographic foundations and then lead students through the process of turning their writing into original dance. By focusing on self and group exploration, students will gain confidence, courage, and self-awareness leading up to their final performance for friends, family, and community.
This event is $10 per participant. Previous dance experience is not required.
Monday, June 26th, 6:00pm - 8:00pm - The Art of Self-Acceptance: How to Love Yourself While Growing Your Career @ WeWork Kinzie (20 W Kinzie)
Join us for an intimate conversation about the delicate balance between self-acceptance and career growth, moderated by Design Dance Founder/Director Debra Giunta. We'll enjoy food and cocktails while sharing ways to better encourage a healthy self-image as changemakers and entrepreneurs in the Chicago community. Adult age 21+ welcome.
