    Join Design Dance at St. Hycinth Basilica for Tap Dance! In this class, students learn the basics of tap dance in an upbeat and welcoming environment.  This class covers the fundamental tap steps while also introducing dancers to concepts of rhythm, counting and improvisation.  Perfect for beginning dancers looking to be introduced to the world of tap!  [AGES 5-9]

  • Pre-Tap (ages 4-5)

    Pre-tap introduces children to the basics of tap dancing within the structure of a traditional tap class. Children are taught to understand basic rhythm and counting skills while by mimicking sounds they hear in class and in music.

    Pre-Dance is the perfect introduction to ballet for our young dancers ages 3-5. This class teaches fundamental ballet skills in a creative and imaginative setting!

    Pre-Dance is taught by Francesca Bourgault.

    Ballet attire of leotard, tights and ballet slippers is recommended but not required!

  • Junior Hip Hop (ages 5-7)

    Junior Hip Hop is perfect for dancers ages 5-7. Students learn basic hip hop choreography to upbeat music in a fun, encouraging environment. Dancers are also encouraged to create their own dance moves by participating in improvisational games.

    Junior Hip Hop is taught by Jaquey Julio.

    Students should wear cool, comfortable clothing!

    Junior Tap is a perfect first tap class for students ages 6-8. Dancers learn tap technique basics while incorporating counting, rhythm and improvisational techniques.

    Junior Hip Hop is perfect for dancers ages 6-8. Students learn basic hip hop choreography to upbeat music in a fun, encouraging environment. Dancers are also encouraged to create their own dance moves by participating in improvisational games.

    This Hip Hop is perfect for dancers of all ability levels that are over the age of 10. Students learn hip hop choreography and break dancing to upbeat music in a fun, encouraging environment. Dancers are also prompted to create their own dance moves by participating in improvisational games.

    Teen Hip Hop is taught by Jacquey Julio.

    Mom and Tot hip hop is an upbeat introductory dance class that incorporates parent and child co-participation. It encourages coordination, balance, flexibility and motor skills, all while groovin’ to your child’s favorite songs!

    Jazznastics is perfect for students ages 3-4. Dancers learn the basics of pre-dance while incorporating beginning tumbling skills! This class is an excellent way to improve coordination, flexibility and motor skills while having a blast!

    The instructor for Jazznastics is Francesca Bourgault.

  • Jr. Ballet I (ages 5-7)

    Jr. Ballet I is an excellent first ballet class. This class follows a traditional ballet class format and introduces young dancers to the fundamentals of ballet while building strength, flexibility and agility.

    Jr. Ballet II is a continuing ballet class for students who have at least one session of Jr. Ballet I.  This class follows a traditional ballet class format and encourages young dancers to develop ballet skills while building strength, flexibility and agility.

    Jr. Ballet II is taught by Kristina Ancil.

  • Combo Tap/Jazz (ages 4-5)

    Learn the basics of tap and jazz in this fun combo class!  

    Students should plan to wear ballet or jazz shoes and bring tap shoes with them to change into.  

  • Pre-Dance II (age 3)-Section I

    Pre-Dance II is geared specifically for our 3 year old dancers. This class introduces students to beginning ballet skills while creating an upbeat, fun environment! An excellent preparation for continuing dance training in any discipline.

    Story-Time Dance is an excellent beginning dance class or supplement to pre-dance or ballet. In this class, students are taught to dance their way through our favorite children’s stories. They learn fundamental dance basics while learning vital skills in comprehension, performance and character.

    Story-Time Dance is taught by Johanna Thompson.

    Ballet I is a brand new class designed for our oldest ballerinas.  This class is intended for students who have had at least one year of ballet and have been invited to join by Miss Kristina.  Ballet I follows a traditional ballet class format and encourages young dancers to develop ballet skills while building strength, flexibility and agility.
