Design Dance is seeking a Marketing Assistant for immediate start. This part-time position will report directly to the Director and will aid in engaging the Design Dance community online and in person through events and community partnerships, increasing our visibility and customer engagement for the recent launch of our online platform: The Groove (movementthatmatters.co).  

Design Dance was founded in 2008 out of a passion to bring dance to students throughout the Chicagoland area through unique, collaborative partnerships with schools and community centers. Our programming is designed to build courage, connection and self-awareness through innovative curriculum, a dedicated teaching staff and a commitment to meeting the needs of the communities we serve. Each student, regardless of ability level, is empowered to better express themselves and share stories through movement, performance and collaboration.

The Marketing Assistant will help execute efforts to build relationships with partner organizations and press contacts, coordinate photoshoots, engage stakeholders online through social media channels, and manage logistics for digital marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has excellent communication skills, is proficient in communicating and engaging through social media and can communicate through writing in a clear and engaging way.  This is the perfect position for an individual interested in pursuing any of the following career paths: communications, social media marketing, public relations, digital content strategy, or event planning.  A successful marketing assistant will increase engagement through online platforms, maximize conversion through online sales efforts, and build meaningful relationships with our community through events and organizational partnerships.  

The Marketing Assistant must be available 20 hours per week M-F between the hours of 9am - 5pm.  The exact schedule can be flexible based on candidates availability.  Some weekend availability will be requested on an as-needed basis. This is a part-time (20 hours per week) position with availability to begin immediately.


Responsibilities include:

  • Regular email communication with director, influencers, stakeholders, members of the press

  • Assisting in executing social media content and strategy

  • Assisting in executing newsletter content and strategy for parents and contacts.

  • Planning and attending community based events

  • Researching potential partners


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent people skills

  • Business communication skills

  • Flexibility

  • Proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets and Forms

  • Previous customer service experience

  • Previous sales experience (preferred)

  • Previous experience in social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook)

  • PR/Marketing interest

  • Ideal candidate will have some knowledge of one or more design programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Apple Pages) as well as Squarespace.
