Sunny Kallas
Sunshine started her dance training at the early age of three at Anne Petersen's Dance Studio in Morrison, Il. She studied ballet, pointe, tap, and jazz and taught at the studio through high school. It wasn't until Sunny started at Illinois State University, that she also fell in love with modern dance. She was a company member with Illinois State Dance Theatre, where she performed in faculty, student, and guest artist pieces including works from Paul Taylor and Joe Goode. She also choreographed and performed in the gala at American College Dance Festival.
Graduating from ISU with Theatre/Dance Performance major in 2005, she is now thrilled to continue her performance and teaching career in Chicago. This is her third season with Innervation Dance Coopertive, and has the opportunity of reaching out to the younger generation with IDC Speaks, the touring company. Sunny also dances with two other contemporary companies, the Massive and the Monocle Eclectic. Teaching is what she loves most, whether it's hip hop group fitness to adults, or ballet, tap, and hip hop to the eager young minds of Chicago. She is thrilled to join the Designdance staff and spread her passionate love of dance. Sunny would like to thank her mother and many others who always encouraged her to always follow her dreams.
